When attending the club you need to decide what your goals are. There are three main types of training:
Fitness
Fitness and Grading
Fitness, Grading and Competition
Fitness
Kickboxing will give you an all over body workout. It’s mentally tough as well as physically. Every lesson will involve
cardio workouts and the training of kicking, punching and boxing techniques. You are asked to work as hard as you
can so varying fitness levels are more than welcome. Read more about fitness lessons.
Fitness and Grading
Have you ever thought about getting a black belt?
Gaining a Black Belt in any martial art gives you a feeling of confidence and achievement. To gain your Black Belt you will need
consistent training, hard-work and a good mental attitude. It takes roughly three and a half years of consistent training to achieve
a black belt. There is a set syllabus to work through with different colour belts to indicate the level you are at.
The syllabus is the basic outline from which there are hundreds of more subtle moves, theories and skills.
The first two grades are Yellow Belt and Orange belt which will involve learning about your stance, the basic kicks
(front kick, roundhouse kick and side kick), striking techniques, movement, using hand pads, kick shields, punch bags,
how to shadow box and sparring techniques (students are NOT forced to spare). Each beginner belt needs about
3 months between to increase fitness and technique. Read more about grading.
Fitness, Grading and Competition
Weston's Warrior Gym Kickboxing are based in Weston and have competition fighters competing regularly.
They are closely linked with Fightclub Events who run large fight nights in Weston with nearly 1000 spectators.
We can help you compete at which ever level you want. There are many small tournaments where you can compete
at semi-contact or points fighting. There are also tournaments and fight nights where you take the level up and compete
at full-contact Kickboxing.
You must attend the first lesson. It is important you continue to keep your fitness up and to continue to improve your technique.
Grading is also an important part of the training as it brings confidence in your own ability.
After the first lesson, the fitness and conditioning will be taken up a level in the second. The second lesson will include
sparring and conditioning techniques.

You can come along and train in this lesson and not compete but you will have to train at the same level.
Equipment that will be needed includes gum shield, head-guard, 16oz gloves, bag gloves
or MMA gloves, shin and instep pads, and groin guard.
